In August of 1990, Arthur R. Martinez (or Artie) opened the Law Office of Arthur R. Martinez in Downtown Minneapolis. This bilingual law office represents clients in both State and Federal Courts. Artie has tried many high profile cases in both State and Federal Courts.
Artie has a broad background in providing training and education for law students, lawyers, judges and interpreters around the country and in Mexico. Throughout his career, he has been on faculty at the Western Trial Advocacy Institute in Laramie, Wyoming along with Mr. Gerry Spence, the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) an organization established by Notre Dame Law School, and the Mexican Connection CLE in Cancun, Mexico. Artie has been an adjunct professor at William Mitchell College of Law since 1992 and he appears in a video published by West Publishing Company that covers the areas of opening statements and cross examination. Artie has served as a board member with the Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (MACDL) and was both pupil, then barrister with the Warren Burger Inns of Court. Artie was appointed by the Minnesota Supreme Court to serve on the Minnesota Supreme Court Advisory Committee on the Rules of Criminal Procedure for two full terms.
Apart from his law practice, Artie spent six years as the producer and host of “Es La Ley” [Translation: “It’s the Law”], an hour-long radio talk show broadcast by Radio Rey WDGY 630AM, a Spanish-speaking radio station based in Minneapolis. The program focused on legal and social issues that directly effect Minnesota’s Latino community.
